Is It Real Or Is It Just A Myth?

If you will search the internet using Google or Yahoo! about pheromones, all you will get a couple of websites defining what are they and about thousands more selling their products claiming to contain them. But, what is really a pheromone?

Pheromones are chemical substances released into the surrounding air and water used to communicate certain message, usually for mating or defense purposes. These substances in other animal species are identified and recognized with specific functions, example, it in ants are used to as food trail so that other members of the colony will be track down the location of the food and the bring it back to its home. However,  in human beings are not yet established.

Over fifty years since pheromones were discovered in animals and twenty-five years since they were first proposed to be secreted by human beings, not even a single research proved its existence in man. Since those times, not a single substance was named as a pheromone of human beings. These mysterious substances created serious debates among scientists; both parties presenting their own evidences. Those who believe in the pheromone-producing capacity of humans said that they are responsible for some basic instinct of human survival such as when an infant turns to the lactating mother and finds her nipple, while those on the other side said that as long as there is no acceptable evidence it do not exist.

With all these arguments concerning the true existence  in human beings, where did all these wholesale perfumes claiming to be Pheromone Perfumes get the “pheromones” they are mixing in their products, when in fact according to research, there isn’t even a single chemical substance accepted as being one?

The existence of pheromones in the animal kingdom truly exists, but does it in Homo sapiens?
