A Kitchen Island For A Small Kitchen

The other day I purchased a new piece of pine kitchen furniture. I live in a single bedroom apartment in downtown New York City and I needed to add some additional counter space to my kitchen so that I could cook. The apartment came bare and the kitchen came equipped with only a fridge, a stove, and a sink. There was a lot of floor space but not so much counter space so the first few nights I had quite a bit of trouble trying to get my meals cooked. That’s when I decided to purchase a kitchen island.

The stationary kitchen island is a great piece of kitchen furniture for anyone looking to add counter space and storage capacity to his or her kitchens. It comes in particularly handy if your kitchen has a lot of empty floor space because you can purchase a large kitchen island and set it up against the wall. The right sized kitchen island will do wonders for the functionality of your kitchen and make it much easier to cook and much easier to store your dishware and cooking equipment.

I did a little bit of research over online to figure out what the best product was for me. The kitchen island I ultimately bought was made of pine and about four foot long and two feet wide. It gave me just enough space to set my chopping block down on it and it came equipped with drawers for my utensils and cabinets underneath for my appliances. This under counter storage could also double as a small kitchen pantry. I also purchased a couple of metal bar stools so I could eat breakfast in the kitchen. So far I haven’t had any problems with this kitchen island and would recommend it for anyone with a small kitchen in need of some workable counter space.

There’s only one warning that I’d like to leave you with: if you do end up buying a large pine kitchen island make sure that you use a cutting board whenever you are slicing, dicing, or chopping something up. Don’t ever use the knife directly on the tabletop of the island because you will scratch it up and ruin it.
