Why People Pick Outdoor Pavers

Many people, when installing a new patio, walkway, or driveway, settle with cheaper and simpler materials options. Many go with concrete, as its cheap and easy to install and can be strong if installed correctly. Others go with asphalt, as it is one of the cheapest options, though it doesn’t look very good. Others use crushed stone to fill in the area. Whatever the decision, many homeowners years later switch over to outdoor concrete pavers to complete their project. Here are the reasons why many switch. If you learn this information, you will not make the same mistake, and you’ll hopefully use paving stones to install your project the first time:

1) The surface cracks. Both concrete and especially asphalt are well known for this property. Often the cracking is made worse by the fact that the base wasn’t installed well. For others, however, the concrete or asphalt cracks in spite of the fact that the base was well-installed. Because these materials form huge slabs, any freezing, thawing, expanding, contracting, etc. of the foundation below could cause the slab up top to crack. Pavers resist this cracking as they have joints of sand that are flexible yet strong.

2) Maintenance. This is especially the case with stone and asphalt driveways. Having to continually patch, clean up, or seal a driveway or other installation can be a drain on our time, money, and energy. Paver installations require little in the way of maintenance to keep them looking great.

3) Looks. Concrete, asphalt, and stone is simply boring to look at, and it usually doesn’t go well with certain home themes. There aren’t that many design options available for these materials. Outdoor pavers, however, come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors, giving you many opportunities to design a project that goes well with your home’s theme and style.
