Microwave Ovens Make Cooking Easy and Efficient
Microwave ovens are probably one of the most under-rated and dramatic inventions to come from the 20th century. I realize that sounds a little strange but let me explain. In the 19th century (1800’s) families could spend the entire day just preparing their meals. And it would take the entire family helping to prepare enough food as well. Everyone would be involved starting with the Father who either did the hard labor on the farm or labored for the money to buy the materials necessary to create the food. Then the mother with all the help of her children would go to work cooking (often with an open fire), mixing, cutting, chopping and preparing the food. It was no small task. Then the invention of the convection oven came about and made it very easy to heat and it would only take a few minutes (30+) to actually cook the food that was prepared. This cut back drastically on the amount of time it took to make meals for a family and they could work on other things while the food was cooking.
Next the invention of the microwave oven came along and made the cooking time for food seemingly non-existent! You could take a small meal and have it cooked within minutes and in some cases even seconds! Microwave ovens use microwaves, obviously, to agitate the water molecules in food enough that the water heats up and consequently the entire food heats up and cooks. The microwave oven has been the catalyst for a massive billion dollar industry: Frozen foods. Now to make a meal all you have to do is take one of your simple frozen meals, put it in the microwave for 3 minutes and you’re done! What took many long hours just a few decades earlier could now be done in 3 minutes. The best place to purchase a microwave oven these days is at your nearest kitchen appliance store or online at a website like Amazon.com.
