Do Employers Discriminate Against People With Tattoos?

If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, you might want to think twice before doing so.  There are several reason not to get a tattoo but today we’ll be talking about just one of them.  Once you get a tattoo, its kind of hard to get rid of it. You can use tattoo removalcreams or you can go to a doctor and have laser tattoo removal therapy.  The first option you can do in your home and it’s inexpensive.  The second option must be done at a doctors office and it’s really expensive.

Let’s get to the point here.  The question is, do employers discriminate against people with tattoos? The answer would have to be a resounding YES.  Whether it’s right or not, potential employers are often times reluctant to hire people with tattoos. There are a lot of different reasons for this. In some cases, they just don’t like tattoos and therefore since you have a tattoo, they don’t like you.

Another reason that employers may discriminate about people with tattoos is that they are afraid that their customers will be turned off if they see visible tattoos on their employees. To be fair, there are many cases when this is true.  Although tattoos are becoming more and more mainstream, there is still a certain stigma attached to it.  Fair or unfair, a lot of people look at people with tattoos differently.

Depending on the type of tattoo some people are more turned off than others. If the tattoo is a spider web on your neck, people are likely to think that you are a thug or that you just got out of prison. Employers want their workers to make the best possible impression with their customers so their customers will feel comfortable doing business with them.

If you don’t have a tattoo yet, you might want to avoid getting one especially if it will be in a visible location.
