Different Grow Lights Are Used For Growing Different Indoor Plants
There are some specially designed lights that are used for growing plants. These items are called grow lights and they are designed to replicate the type of lighting found naturally outside. Plants need a certain amount of light in order to complete the process of photosynthesis. This is the means they use to convert food into the necessary nutrients that enable them to grow.
When looking for this type of lighting you will see a few different types of bulbs available. The various bulbs are designed to create brighter or dimmer types of light to use with different types of plants. These lights are most commonly used for growing vegetation indoors and can also come in a variety of different sizes. The longer sets are usually types of fluorescent bulbs you can position inside a small lampshade. These lights do not generate as much heat as some of the other types so they would be used for dim light growing such as seed starting inside of a mini greenhouse.
You will also see letters associated with various products, which can include the MH, HPS, LED and HID. The HID stands for high density and actually generates a high amount of heat. This would be a choice choice for growing flowers that are native to tropical climates. Another good light to use for flower gardens is the high sodium bulb. This product contains a mixture of mercury and sodium to help create more vibrant colors.
The various lights use different methods to create the special effects they bring to a plant. The type of light you choose to use will depend on what you want to grow in your garden. Basic green plants will not require the same spectrum of light as those that flower. You also want to have a color producing light for any above ground vegetables you may be growing.
