Checking Out The 1962 Fender Stratocaster Relic

One of the classics when it comes to Fender amplifiers is the Fender Frontman 212r and with guitars, is the Fender Relic–they have a history all of their own, equal to that of the originals they replicate. The original Stratocaster for example, and other popular models of guitar made in the ’60’s became very valuable, so much so that players were often nervous about taking them on tour. This was not without cause either; several players actually had their original guitars stolen while on tour! Of course, there is also the possibility that the guitars will get damaged somehow too. So, requests were made for replica guitars which were then taken on tour instead of the original. Fender complied with these requests and the Fender Relic was made.

One very popular Fender relic is the 1962 Fender Stratocaster. It is so well crafted that it almost exactly matches the original Stratocaster made by Fender. Its shape and even the material it is made from is the same, meaning that the sound of the guitar very closely matches the sound of the original. Unless you know a lot about guitars it would probably be very difficult to tell the difference between the original and the relic, unless of course you checked out the price; there is quite a large difference there!

Fender have worked over the guitar to give it an aged, and well used appearance–closely matching exactly how an original ’62 Stratocaster would look after years of use. Believe it or not, even the hardware and pickups look a little rusted. The final result of all of this modification is that the guitar even sounds like an original Stratocaster, even when it is brand new.

Currently you can pick up one of these guitars to play with you folding music stand for around $3,000 though prices do tend to vary. So, plug in your Fender 212r Frontman, pull out your Fender Relic and see what type of music you can play!
