Walking Holidays In Spain … Aragon

Aragon is a Spanish region that lies just next to the famous Pyrenees Mountains, in the north eastern part of Spain. Its capital city is Zaragoza, and it’s where most people on the province live. Aragon is a well known area and is one of the most visited destinations for walking holidays in Spain, famous for its vast wild and beautiful areas and places to explore.

In the cities you will find extra ordinary castles that were built on hills many years ago; the most popular of these castles is the magnificent Loarre castle.

The city has evidence of both Muslim and Christian (roman) life, which can be seen through out the region and the surrounding areas. It has several medieval churches and cathedrals which are considered as architectural treasure of Aragon. There are also several museums where you can follow the regions rich historical background
September is the month in which the traditional bull fights are held, which the people of Aragon are very proudThe, Caminos, historic walks,  is another exciting feature of Aragon, this is the pathway which was taken by pilgrims when they came to Spain form Provence, along the Caminos historic walk pathway you will be able to see the beautiful scenery of mountains, forests and rivers.

Aragon has a slightly drier climate when compared to other parts of Spain; it sometimes experiences strong winds in some of its areas.  Aragon is at its best during summer for walking and during winter it’s very good for skiing.
Aragon only has one small airport in Zaragoza, where only Ryan air goes. However you may fly in through Reus airport and then take a two and a half hour drive to Aragon.
