The power of Thoughts

In general we humans think that we are completely in control of our thoughts, when in reality oftentimes our thoughts can take control of us. We slipped into patterns of thought completely subconsciously and soon those patterns are controlling our destiny. If you are suffering from depression you might be dealing with the results of negative thinking developed in the past that has shaped your life that you even knowing. The good news is that it is never too late to change, you can take control of your life, you can take control of your thoughts.

Negative thinking can be like that picture the snake eating its own tail. I myself remember thinking about how depressed I felt and contemplating my sadness just maybe more sad. I was trapping myself. We all have the potential to trap ourselves, but we also have the potential to free ourselves. What you need to know is that as long as you focus on what makes you depressed you will continue to be depressed.

Don’t take this as saying that all you need to escape deep depression is more happy thoughts. Everyone is different, some people can find happiness easily whereas most of us have to go through a long and sometimes difficult process. The important thing is to know that while it’s not always easy it is always possible, our thinking is not set in stone you can change it to help you instead of hurting you.

It’s easy to become trapped in your thoughts, to feel alone. That’s what I recommend you seek out professional help as you try and change your thought patterns. A mental health professional would be able to help you target the thoughts you need to and replace them with positive thoughts.
