Home Remedies for Removing Tar

Tar stains are unsightly and they do not contribute anything to making furniture look good. In fact, it is something you would not want on your couches or sofas. There are many cleaners which can help you remove tar stains. They can be purchased from leading department stores. If you are worried about the costs, there are home remedies which you can try. You can easily remove tar stains from your chaise lounges and chaise lounge chair cushions.

These home remedies will not cost you anything. Most of these materials can be found in your kitchen or in your household.

When you have tar on your wooden furniture, do not attempt to chip it off the furniture immediately. Allow it to freeze first. You can do this by placing a bag of ice on it. Once the tar is brittle, this is the time you can use a dull knife to chip it off the wooden furniture. Do not be too aggressive when removing the tar. Be careful when chipping it off. Start from the outside and more towards the center. This might take some time so be patient.

Do not be surprised if you see residue on the wooden chair. You can easily remove it using oil and a clean cloth. Just rub it gently and carefully and it will go away.

Removing tar stains from fabric upholstery can be quite a challenge. In contrast to wooden furniture, you should not wait for the stain to dry up. You should attend to it immediately while it is still wet. Hardened tar stains are more difficult to remove from fabric stains. Use a paper towel to blot off excess liquid and scrape the remaining tar using a butter knife. Do not use something which is sharp, you might tear the fabric. You can also wet a cotton ball with alcohol and dab it on the stain. This will make removal of the stain very easy.
