Adding viewers to the door does help in giving you extra security. The fish eye hole allows you to peek through the door without opening it, allowing you to see who exactly is on the other side. They wont be able to see through the fish hole, so you dont have to worry about them peeking back in.
Avoid having doors with normal glass panes as burglars can break them easily to unlock from the other side. You can use reinforced glass so burglars cannot break the window, but they would still be able to see inside unless you have a thick curtain over it.
Not only do the door security accessories help to reinforce your door, it also has a psychological effect on burglars. They will be tempted to skip your house when they see the door is well reinforced with securities.
