Electric and non electric chandeliers
Strange as it might seem as we all have electricity at the touch of a button, there is still a market for non electric candle chandeliers. Most of them have a traditional design and often are made of wrought iron, they might need taper candles and in some cases pillar candles if you want to use them as sources of lights.
Some people are quite happy to keep candle chandeliers purely as a decorative item.If you are using real candles then anything with crystal or glass would enhance the atmosphere by creating fascinating light effects while if you are looking for something with a more rustic look than antler or wood chandeliers might be just what you are looking for.
You might prefer an electric chandeliers and all the types mentioned so far will be available in versions with electric lights. Even Bohemian crystal chandeliers that would look great in an 18th century royal palace are all been converted to electricity. Candles might create a better atmosphere but they are not exactly practical and very few people would use a real candle chandelier on a daily basis when they could get an electric version.
The type of chandeliers you will choose will depend on the general decor of your home. While a large crystal chandelier might require a very high ceiling, there are many chandeliers that look great in a city flat. Luckily these days with the internet you can shop around and be inspired even by looking at sources not in your own country.
If you want an antler chandelier from Norway or a glass chandelier from Venice you can order it directly without having to get third parties involved. Unlike what many people may think animals are not harmed to make antler chandeliers, the antlers are discarded once a year in spring and found on the ground. There is also an increasing number of chandeliers made of recycled material if you are concerned about the environment.
