Dead in the Family is the tenth book of the Southern Vampire Mysteries series. However, due to the torture she received at the hands of the fairies, she is mentally and physically recovering. She is in a relationship with a vampire named Eric, who has some or the other family problems. Eric is also hired to help recover Alexei from the mental torture he has faced because of the massacre of his family. In the meantime, there are several events which lead to one of the werewolves attempting to kill Sookie’s best buddies. Things turn around and Sookie, her boyfriend and her previous lover are all safe by the end of the novel.
Dead in the Family is the tenth book in a series of novels, so you may be lost when reading it for the first time. However, if you love watching the Vampire series, True Blood then it might help you understand the novel, as the TV series is based on Harris’s novels. Likewise, if you do not mind some violence, and are interested in mystery and vampire type novels then this novel is for you. It is a worthwhile entertaining book, with many popular culture references which you may find interesting. But, if you are looking for a substantial read, or a more serious read then this novel may not satisfy the desire.
It seems like the past few years have been good for supernatural themed books, including Harry Potter series and Twilight Saga. Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 10) by Charlaine Harris is an addition to the success. For now, it is all about the vampires and the fairies, so you should take a chance and grab this novel to indulge in the latest trend.
