Fly fishing trips are a great way to spend time outdoors and start a new hobbies. Fly fishing requires more skill and attention than most other types of fishing. Fly fishing uses different equipment and is usually done in rivers.

If you like spending time near water and are looking to take a trip in the outdoors why not try fly fishing. The reel in fly fishing makes it so that you can easily release line so that you can get the hook further out into the water without the heavy weight used on traditional fishing poles. A lot of avid fly fishers make their own bate, but you can buy it at fishing stores as well. Fly fishing does not use worms or chemical bait, instead the hooks is designed to look like a fly. Many avid fly fishers make their own hooks by tying feathers and other decoration to the hook to make it look like a fly.

The way that fly fishing works is that the fisher flips the hook around near the water to make the fish think that a fly is flying near the water. Eventually the fisher allows the hook to sit on top of the water and the fish will go in for the kill.

Fly fishing takes more skill because it is up to the fisherman’s skill to make their hook appear as though it is a fly flying near the rivers edge. In fact, some rivers only allow fly fishing because weighted bait fishing makes the rivers become over fished.

Also fly fishing is much more active than fishing with a traditional pole where you cast the line once and sit waiting for a fish to bite. With fly fishing the fisherman must constantly be flipping the line around and reeling it back in to try again. Also, making your own hooks allows you to take your hobby home with you when you are unable to make it to the river.

Before you leave for your trip make sure you are well prepared for all weather. Warm clothing like thermal underwear is a good idea, as it keeps you warm even if it gets wet. Thermals are a good standby to sleep in if it is very cold too.
