Changing your Pocket Watch Battery

The battery of your modern pocket watch is very important. Without it, you will not be able to tell time accurately and you will surely either be late or too early for all your appointments. It is a tiny thing but it is the battery which makes your pocket watch. Without it, you will be lost. It would have been better if batteries lasted forever, but they do not. They have to be changed every once in a while.  Most modern pocket watches today need batteries unlike old pocket watches which had to be wounded to work.

How do you change the battery of your pocket watch? It is a process which almost everyone can do. It is really not that complicated at all. All you will need to do is to flip the pocket watch and remove the back case.  Most of the time, the back cover is screwed in place by four small Phillips screws. If this is the case, all you need to unscrew them. If the watch ahs a press inserted back just slide a thin knife and pry it open gently.

The battery is the circular item inside the watch. Just take it out from the back of the watch. Look closely at the battery. If you see a model number and a brand, write it down. You cannot just purchase any other battery. There are batteries which do not work with some watches. If you are having a hard time looking for the brands and the model number, you can just take the old battery with you and show it to the sales person and tell him or her that you are looking for a replacement. If the two, the latter is the much better option because by it you will avoid purchasing the wrong battery.

Once you get your new battery, all you will have to do is to insert it in the watch. Put the cover back on by securing the screws or pressing the back cover of the watch into place. Set the pocket watch to the correct tome and voila, you are finished.
