Blu ray laptop
It hasn’t been long that the concept of blu ray hit the world of computer technology, but it has already taken the market in waves. Many don’t really know what a blu ray actually does to a computer. Others just think of it as the advanced version of DVD. But it is more than just that. If you think that the DVD image is sharp, you will be blown away by the image of a Blu ray. It is far more superior, both in terms of colour, the contrast and the sound. In more simple words, it is as close to 3D as one can get without actually having a 3D screen or the glasses.
One of the major reasons why blu ray has become so popular among the people in such small time is it’s purity of image and sound. It is a step up from DVD and the fact that you can actually add a blu ray drive to your present laptop makes it even more better. There are a variation of laptop drives available. They are BD-ROM, BD-R and BD-RE. The first one is a read only option, the second has recordable and the final has a rewritable option. The read only options are cheaper and also this is where the major need is. As the format becomes more approachable, the rest of the drives will be affordable too.
There are many laptop brands and companies that have introduced blu ray in their product. The first of these was a Sony which appeared in 2006. Today almost every brand named laptops such as Toshiba, Dell, Hewlett Packard(HP) etc have blu ray equipped in them. This gives them the customers to decide, if they want a blu ray equipped laptop or would they want to install it later. But before making any crucial judgements here are a few advantages and disadvantages that you have to be aware of.
Firstly, when talking about the merits of a blu ray assisted laptop, it is one of the best you can get in terms of purity of image and sound. With the prominence of blu ray movies, these laptops are perfect to watch movies on the go. It plays most type of optical media which is a cherry on top of the delicious entertainment it provides. The media elements played on laptop can also be displayed on any external device such as TVs. These laptops burn high capacity blu ray discs as well which makes it even more better.
Then comes it’s disadvantages, which are again the key elements for your judgement. The screens of some of the notebooks are not HD capable. While many use it as player for HDTV, it is important to know whether the one you are purchasing is capable of it. Many may not facilitate HDTV video/audio outputs, which can be a big head ache. Since, the screen of a laptop is comparatively small, it is important for you to know that image quality may not be effectively noticeable in it. Hence, there is no point of such high quality image of a blu ray. Similarly, the cost of drive and discs are still very expensive so it is wise to think about all the consequences before committing to any deal.
Yet, if you are determined to buy a Blu ray laptop then it is suggested always to be a smart customer. Know what you need and what you are going to use it for. It is not so wise to be compelled by the facilities they provide and purchase it, if you are unlikely to make use of it. Shop smart and enjoy the purchase you make.
