Art Deco objects for all tastes
Unlike other art movements Art Deco is nearly impossible to define, it did not have any objectives, rules or manifesto and until 1968 it did not have even a name. While some art historians would trace its beginning to before the First World War the best years forArt Deco were the 1920s in Europe and the 1930s in the States. Then it disappeared without leaving a trace until the 1960s when it was rediscovered. Art Deco is still much influential today in both product and interior design.Art Deco was heavily  influenced by the clear geometric lines and designs  found in the art of many classic civilizations  such as  the Babylonians and Egyptians buildings, interestingly US Art Deco architecture, which was very important in the 1930s with striking examples such as the Empire State Building or the Chrysler Building, was also influenced by Native American art. As you can see Art Deco was also looking for inspiration at aerodynamic lines found in planes, cars and ocean liners, in fact you will see many buildings of that time that look like ships.
If you like that type of decadent yet modern look that you can still find original Art Deco objects but you should do some research first as they are expensive objects and you do not want to pay too much for something that it is not worth that amount.  Also go only to well known and reputable sources, while there are many opportunities on the internet, do not buy expensive antiques without knowing what you are doing first and knowing the source you are buying from.  If you do not want to commit yourself to the expense and responsibility that come with buying an original antique you can find reproductions and Art Deco inspired objects that can still be of a very good quality.  Whether you like and Art Deco inspired chandelier or a reproduction of an Art Deco mirror, you will be able to find them.
