A Harry Potter Vacation

If your kids are like many other kids in the U.S. and around the world, they love everything having to do with the teen wizard Harry Potter. They may have seen every one of the movies several times, read all the books, memorized all the Harry Potter spells, and they may even have dressed up like one of the characters for Halloween. If your kids love reading these books that much, why not consider taking them on the vacation of a lifetime for a Harry Potter fanatic?

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in mid 2010 in Orlando, Florida. It is part of the Universal Studios chain of theme parks. It is actually a part of a park and not a fully fledged park in its own right, but it has been met with instant success despite its relatively small size. In fact, it is single handedly responsible for saving Universal parks system from falling into bankruptcy, according to several published reports.

In the park, you can take a ride on the “Flight of the Hippogriff”, where you will get a chance to glimpse one of Hagrid’s many creatures up close. The hippogriff itself is a charming animatronic figurine. You can also take a tour of Hogwarts school while you are waiting for a ride on the Forbidden Journey, the park’s most famous ride, which travels through Hogwarts. There is also a full scale version of the town of Hogsmeade, where you can sit and sip a butter beer just like the kids in the books, or you can shop at Ollivander’s for your own wand that comes with a list of the Harry Potter spells and what they do, so you can practice casting your own magic spells once you get back home. The park is sure to appeal to any young Harry Potter fan.
